Abstract

Polymer chemistry has witnessed remarkable progress over the past few decades, transforming both scientific research and industrial practices. Recent advances in polymer synthesis, characterization, and functionalization have led to the development of innovative materials with superior mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties. Breakthroughs in controlled/living polymerization, biopolymers, and nanostructured polymers have significantly expanded the scope of applications, ranging from sustainable packaging and biomedical devices to advanced electronics and energy storage systems. Moreover, the integration of green chemistry principles and circular economy models has encouraged the development of environmentally friendly polymers, addressing the pressing issue of plastic pollution. Industrial sectors such as automotive, aerospace, healthcare, and construction are increasingly adopting these novel polymer technologies to enhance efficiency, durability, and sustainability. This review highlights the key trends in polymer chemistry, emphasizing the synergy between academic research and industrial applications, and explores the future challenges and opportunities in the field.
