Abstract

This chapter examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can help close the ongoing digital divide and democratize education in a variety of socioeconomic, regional, and cultural contexts. It looks at how AI-powered solutions may increase accessibility, customise instruction, give teachers more authority, and foster inclusivity, especially for marginalised groups. The conversation focuses on AI’s revolutionary potential to alleviate linguistic and accessibility obstacles, lessen disparities between urban and rural educational systems, and offer data-driven insights for pedagogy and policy. It also critically examines the pedagogical, technological, and ethical issues that come with integrating AI, such as worries about data privacy, teacher deskilling, and unequal access to technology. The chapter highlights the necessity of inclusive, sustainable implementation approaches as well as the significance of ethical consciousness and digital literacy. It comes to the conclusion that AI has the potential to be a potent equaliser if used properly, guaranteeing fair, high-quality education as a basic human right.
