Abstract

The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education has introduced transformative opportunities for personalised learning, predictive analytics, and administrative efficiency. However, these developments raise significant ethical challenges that must be addressed to ensure equitable and responsible adoption. This study explores four key dimensions: ethical issues in AI use, impacts on student privacy, responsible practices by teachers and students, and strategies for ethical implementation. Drawing on secondary data from scholarly literature and policy reports, the analysis highlights concern around surveillance, bias, consent, accountability, and the deskilling of educators. It emphasises the need for transparent and explainable AI systems, strong data governance mechanisms, and inclusive frameworks that prioritise fairness and student rights. The research also underscores the role of educators in modelling responsible AI use, fostering digital literacy, and guiding learners in ethical engagement with AI tools. Institutional policies, algorithmic audits, and participatory governance emerge as critical pathways to align AI-driven education with human values. By embedding ethics and accountability into AI practices, educational institutions can harness innovation while safeguarding equity, privacy, and learner agency, ensuring sustainable and human-centred digital transformation.
