Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by disturbances in perception, cognition, emotion, and behaviour, often accompanied by social withdrawal and impaired functioning. While pharmacological treatments are effective in managing positive symptoms, they show limited efficacy in addressing negative symptoms, bodily disturbances, and psychosocial deficits. Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), a body-oriented psychotherapeutic approach, has gained attention as a complementary intervention for individuals with schizophrenia. This paper reviews and synthesizes existing research on the application of DMT in schizophrenia, highlighting its role in improving mind–body connection, emotional regulation, social interaction, and overall well-being. The paper also discusses emerging evidence on the physiological and psychosocial benefits of DMT and its potential integration into holistic treatment models.Published
