Abstract

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that interfere with functioning and development. While pharmacological and behavioral interventions remain the primary modes of treatment, emerging evidence supports the therapeutic role of structured physical activity in improving cognitive and behavioral outcomes. This chapter explores the neurobiological foundations of ADHD and highlights the innovative concept of 'Movement as Medicine' within physiotherapy practice. It discusses research approaches, clinical applications, multidisciplinary integration, policy implications, benefits, challenges, and future directions. The chapter emphasizes that physiotherapy provides a holistic, evidence-informed, and non-pharmacological adjunct that supports executive functioning, emotional regulation, and motor coordination in children with ADHD.
