Abstract

Mental health and well-being in the workplace have emerged as critical concerns for contemporary organizations as a result of increasing job demands, heightened competition, rapid technological change, and evolving work structures such as remote and flexible work arrangements. Employees’ psychological well-being plays a vital role in determining individual and organizational outcomes, including productivity, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, engagement, and overall performance. Poor mental health can impair cognitive functioning, motivation, and interpersonal relationships, while positive mental well-being enhances resilience, creativity, and sustained work effectiveness. In this context, the present review paper explores key concepts related to workplace mental health and well-being, examines common psychological issues experienced by employees across sectors, and identifies major workplace stressors that contribute to mental distress. Additionally, the paper discusses the role of organizations in promoting employee well-being and highlights evidence-based strategies and interventions that can be adopted to create supportive, inclusive, and mentally healthy work environments.
