Abstract

The relationship between the brain, mind, and behaviour is a central theme in neuroscience and psychology, providing insights into how biological processes give rise to mental experiences and observable actions. The brain functions as the biological foundation of cognition, emotion, and consciousness through complex networks of neurons and synaptic connections. Mental processes such as perception, memory, attention, and emotional regulation emerge from dynamic neural activity within different brain regions. Behaviour represents the observable outcome of these internal brain–mind interactions, shaped by sensory processing, cognitive evaluation, and emotional responses. Advances in neuroscience, including neuroimaging technologies and neurochemical research, have significantly improved our understanding of how neural circuits influence behaviour and mental functioning. Additionally, the concept of neuroplasticity highlights the brain’s capacity to reorganize and adapt in response to experience, learning, and injury. Understanding the interconnected relationship between the brain, mind, and behaviour is essential for improving mental health, educational practices, and neurorehabilitation strategies.
