The National Education Policy 2020 has made it a priority to teach pupils a comprehensive education that takes climate sensitivity into account. In addition to preparing students for the future, this is suggested as a way for them to help solve the climate catastrophe. In India, environmental education and climate change are gaining more attention in the classroom. This includes some funding for instructional materials and teacher professional development, especially online (Chopra et al., 2019). At the secondary or higher education levels, there aren't many specialized courses available right now, though. The majority of colleges typically follow the model curriculum for several topics provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC) at HE. Prioritizing education that emphasizes sustainability and environmental protection is essential in a society where environmental issues are becoming more and more of a danger. It is crucial to educate individuals about environmental protection in the modern world. We can assist individuals in realizing their obligation to advance sustainability. We can provide students the information and abilities they need to address environmental issues by including environmental protection education into curricula and offering experiential learning opportunities. This paper highlights the significance of environmental education, as well as its goals, main ideas, tactics, and capacity to change both people and society.Published
