The evolution of crime has taken an unprecedented turn, surpassing it’s conventional boundaries and expanding into the digital landscape. With the technological advancements, globalization, and the increasing reliance on the digital infrastructure, cybersecurity threats has emerged as one of the most significant cybercrimes to the global economy. This paper provides a comprehensive examination of cyber crimes employing a mixed-methods approach that combines content analysis with detailed case studies and alongside emerging challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) driven attacks. The findings underscore the critical necessity for financial institutions to adopt a proactive, layered, and adaptive cybersecurity posture, integrating advanced technological defenses, robust organizational resilience, and stringent adherence to evolving regulatory frameworks.Published
