DIGITAL LITERACY AND ITS IMPACT ON RURAL EDUCATION IN INDIA

Abstract

This research paper provides an in-depth analysis of the impact of digital literacy on educational outcomes in rural India. Utilizing a qualitative research methodology and drawing from extensive secondary data sources, including government reports, educational surveys, and published academic articles, the study explores the transformative potential of digital education while identifying critical barriers to its widespread and equitable implementation. Findings indicate that digital literacy significantly enhances access to diverse learning resources, improves student engagement and performance, and reshapes pedagogical approaches. However, persistent challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, a lack of comprehensive digital skills among educators and learners, and deep-seated socio-economic and gender disparities continue to impede progress. The paper concludes with strategic policy recommendations aimed at fostering a more inclusive, accessible, and digitally empowered educational landscape in rural India.
