Social media has often been criticized for promoting unrealistic beauty standards, and contributing to body dissatisfaction, especially among young adults. However, recent trends show a shift towards body positivity and self-acceptance, with hashtags like #bodypositivity and #selflove becomes a space for celebrating diverse body types and challenging traditional ideas of appearance. This review paper explores how engaging with positive body image content on social media can improve users' self-esteem, body satisfaction, and mental well-being among young adults. By reviewing existing literature, the paper highlights the connection between body-positive content and enhanced body appreciation. Findings suggest that engaging with supportive online communities can lead to improved self-esteem and healthier body image. Social media thus holds potential for promoting body diversity and mental well-being, offering insights for future initiatives aimed at encouraging positive body image in digital spaces.Published
