Abstract

Background: Suicidal ideation is a critical concern among adolescents, and effective interventions are necessary to mitigate its impact. Rajyoga Meditation has been proposed as a potential therapeutic approach for addressing mental health issues, including suicidal thoughts. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of Rajyoga Meditation on suicidal ideation in adolescents. Methods: A total of 40 adolescents (aged 13–17 years) from Muzaffarnagar city were selected based on their scores on a suicidal ideation scale. Participants exhibiting elevated suicidal thoughts were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (Rajyoga Meditation training for three months) or a control group (no intervention, with regular weekly interactions). Pre- and post-treatment suicidal ideation scores were collected using the suicidal ideation scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (paired t-tests). Results: The experimental group showed a significant reduction in suicidal ideation following the three-month Rajyoga Meditation intervention. In contrast, the control group exhibited no significant changes in suicidal thoughts.
