Abstract

Cancer affects not just the physical health of patients but also that of caregivers. This research examines the relationship between spirituality, treatment self-regulation, and psychological well-being among cancer patients. It used data from a sample of 30 cancer patients selected via convenience sampling. Spirituality was measured using the Spirituality Assessment Scale (Howden, 1992), Carol Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being scale, and the Treatment Self-Regulation Questionnaire (TSRQ) to assess psychological well-being and self-regulation. The research observed strict ethical standards, obtaining prior permission and informed consent from hospital authorities and patients. Findings indicate that higher levels of spirituality are associated with improved self-regulatory capacities and enhanced psychological well-being among patients. This paper highlights the potential for oncological practices to foster better self-regulation and well-being in cancer patients, advocating for a more comprehensive approach to cancer care that integrates psychological and spiritual dimensions of health.
