DECISION MAKING: PUT A FULL STOP TO DILEMMA

Abstract

In the present-day technology era, the conscious mind is in a continual state of making choices between two or more alternatives in order to achieve a specific outcome. Whether the decisions are made formally or informally/ structured or unstructured / high impact or low impact / professional or personal, we all indeed make decisions which are a fundamental aspect of human nature. The advancements in technology have developed artificial-intelligence (AI) based algorithms for decision making that helps mankind to let machines make data driven routine decisions and save the intellectual resources to more complex decisions. Amazon’s “Alexa” aids in choosing the songs as per the mood specified by the user, whereas it cannot operate without a human voice command. The technology can help only when a user is clear about the choices, else it may not be of any use. This text aims to explore the applied side of the decision making in almost every aspect of life. This book chapter delves into the process, elements, types and ethical considerations in decision making. It examines how decision making models are applicable in personal as well as organizational decision making.
