PROBLEM-BASED AND CASE-BASED LEARNING IN PHYSIOTHERAPY

Abstract

Problem-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning are ways of teaching that are changing how physiotherapy students learn. These methods make students think for themselves and solve problems than just listening to teachers. This part of the book looks at how Problem-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning work in practice and how they help students think critically and make decisions when treating patients. We looked at what people have written about Problem-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning between 2020 and 2026. We found that these methods help students think for themselves and make decisions when treating patients with muscle, nerve or heart and lung problems. We use real life examples to show how students learn to treat patients come up with ideas about what's wrong with them and create plans to help them get better. Problem-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning are better, than teaching methods but they are not perfect. They need a lot of resources and teachers need training. Some students do not like these methods. This part of the book suggests ways to make Problem-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning work better. Shows how they can be used with other methods to help students become good physiotherapists. We think that using both Problem-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning is the way to prepare students for the real world of physiotherapy.
