Abstract

Two contemporary, student-centred teaching strategies that are frequently used in physiotherapy education to improve clinical competency and critical thinking are problem-based learning (PBL) and case-based learning (CBL). With these approaches, the emphasis is shifted from traditional lecture-based instruction to active learning, in which students interact with actual clinical cases and challenges. While CBL concentrates on applying theoretical knowledge to structured clinical scenarios, PBL stresses self-directed learning through problem-solving. Both strategies support students' growth in clinical reasoning, decision-making abilities, and group learning. PBL and CBL are integrated in physiotherapy to assist in closing the knowledge gap between theory and practice and equip students to handle patients effectively.
