Abstract

The integration of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies into health sciences education represents a transformative shift in pedagogical approaches. These immersive technologies offer unprecedented opportunities for experiential learning, clinical skill development, and simulation-based training. This chapter explores the applications, benefits, challenges, and future directions of VR and AR in health sciences education, with particular emphasis on medical, nursing, and allied health programs. Evidence suggests that immersive technologies significantly enhance learner engagement, clinical competence, and patient safety outcomes. The chapter further examines existing literature, theoretical frameworks, and practical implementation strategies to guide educators in adopting these technologies effectively.
