Abstract

Remote rehabilitation has rapidly established itself as a core component of twenty-first-century physiotherapy. Using advances in video consultation, wearable sensors, and AI-driven motion analysis, clinicians now conduct rigorous assessments, prescribe personalized exercise programs, and educate patients entirely outside a clinic, achieving outcomes that match face-to-face care. Digital tools allow real-time biomechanical feedback, adherence monitoring, and instant program adjustment. At the same time, virtual education channels are reshaping how physiotherapists continue learning, removing barriers of geography and institutional access. Challenges around governance, unequal digital access, and reimbursement still exist, but a strong and growing evidence base positions tele-rehabilitation as clinically sound, cost-effective, and person-centered, poised to fundamentally reshape how rehabilitation is delivered worldwide.
