ETHICS AND PROFESSIONALISM IN PHYSIOTHERAPY EDUCATION

Abstract

In physiotherapy education, ethics and professionalism are essential foundations that influence future practitioners' behaviour, judgment, and clinical proficiency. Ethical practice guarantees safe, courteous, and efficient care because physiotherapists work closely with patients from a variety of demographics. In contrast, professionalism promotes trust, accountability, and integrity in healthcare institutions. The growth of professionalism in educational settings, the incorporation of ethical values into clinical training, and the fundamental ethical principles governing physiotherapy are all covered in this chapter. Important topics, including informed consent, confidentiality, academic integrity, communication, and legal obligations, are also covered. Institutions can equip students to handle challenging clinical situations while upholding high standards of patient care and professional conduct by including ethical reasoning and professional behaviour into physiotherapy education.
