FACULTY DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING IN HEALTH SCIENCES

Abstract

The improvement of clinical practice, research, and education depends heavily on the training and development of faculty in the health sciences. Faculty members' ongoing professional development is increasingly important as medical knowledge advances rapidly and instructional approaches change. This includes improving proficiency in curriculum design, assessment techniques, teaching-learning methodologies, and the use of technology in the classroom. Effective faculty development programs prioritise interactive, learner-centred strategies including problem-based learning, simulation, and e-learning and are founded on adult learning principles. These programs also foster mentorship, leadership development, and research skills, all of which promote institutional and individual progress.
