Abstract

In order to prepare healthcare workers to provide efficient, courteous, and patient-centred care in a variety of cultural contexts, cultural competence is a crucial part of healthcare education. It entails developing the understanding, information, attitudes, and abilities necessary to comprehend and correctly address patients' cultural needs. Incorporating cultural competence into the curriculum improves clinical outcomes, communication, and health inequities in healthcare education. The development of cultural competence is guided by several theories and frameworks that place an emphasis on ongoing education and introspection. In order to develop these competences, educational techniques including simulation, experiential learning, and interprofessional teamwork are crucial. Cultural competence is still essential for advancing fairness and inclusivity in healthcare systems, despite obstacles including scarce resources, linguistic difficulties, and unconscious prejudice.
