A holistic, client-focused strategy, mental health rehabilitation seeks to support individuals with mental illness in achieving optimal functioning and meaningful participation in daily activities. Occupational therapy plays a vital role in this effort by employing therapeutic activities to enhance quality of life, promote independence, and advance functional abilities. Important theoretical models, such as the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), Cognitive Behavioral Frame of Reference, and Recovery Model, are examined as foundational frameworks for practice. This chapter also outlines the commonly utilized assessment tools in mental health occupational therapy. Employment support, psychoeducation, activity-based therapy, and skills training represent just a few of the numerous occupational therapy methods that are backed by recent research. These therapeutic approaches improve psychological health, work performance, and social interaction. Mental health rehabilitation is a process focused on the client and oriented towards recovery, designed to assist individuals with mental illnesses in reaching their highest potential, independence, and meaningful engagement in everyday life. Occupational therapy is crucial in this field, employing purposeful activities and organized interventions to tackle cognitive, emotional, social, and functional challenges. This chapter offers a thorough overview of mental health rehabilitation as it relates to occupational therapy practice.Published
