DIGITAL HEALTH, TELEMEDICINE AND E-HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Abstract

Health professionals belonging to allied health disciplines are navigating a period of remarkable change, propelled by convergent forces including digital innovation, artificial intelligence, genomic science, and mounting pressure to deliver care that is both equitable and person-centred. This chapter explores the principal directions and disruptive forces that will redefine allied health practice, education, and scholarship over the coming decade. Through an evidence-based lens, it examines how emerging technologies, collaborative care models, genomic personalisation, community-oriented service delivery, and evolving workforce paradigms are collectively reconfiguring the allied health landscape. A central contention is that practitioners who actively position themselves at the forefront of these developments will be better equipped to enhance patient outcomes, narrow persistent health disparities, and champion systemic innovation. The chapter closes with evidence-based recommendations directed at key stakeholders across education, practice, policy, and research.
