Abstract

The rapid digital transformation of education has reshaped students’ learning patterns, communication styles, and social interactions across the world. Although digital technologies have improved access to education, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, excessive dependence on digital platforms has also contributed to growing mental health concerns such as psychological stress, cyberbullying, sleep disturbances, social comparison, and digital addiction. This chapter examines the influence of digital exposure on students’ psychological well-being and analyses the major emotional and behavioural risks associated with excessive technology use. It further explores how student mental health is directly connected with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The chapter also highlights practical intervention strategies for educational institutions, teachers, families, and policymakers to promote healthy digital engagement, emotional resilience, and inclusive educational environments. Ensuring student mental well-being in the digital age is essential for building sustainable, equitable, and learner-centred educational systems.
