DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF EDUCATION: EXPLORING AI, ICT AND BIG DATA FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The twenty-first century has witnessed an unprecedented digital revolution that has transformed nearly every aspect of human life, including education. The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data analytics into educational systems has opened new pathways for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4, which emphasizes inclusive and equitable quality education for all. Digital transformation in education is no longer a luxury but a necessity for building resilient, inclusive and future-ready societies. This chapter explores how digital technologies are reshaping teaching-learning processes, governance, accessibility, educational equity and global sustainability. It also highlights the opportunities, challenges and future directions associated with the digitalization of education. The chapter argues that responsible and inclusive digital transformation can become a powerful catalyst for transforming the world toward sustainable development.
