This study explores the role of heutagogy, or self-determined learning, in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Rooted in constructivist principles, heutagogy empowers learners to take ownership of their learning processes, encouraging them to engage actively in decision-making, self-reflection, and goal-setting. Heutagogy enhances critical thinking by promoting independent analysis, questioning assumptions, and evaluating evidence. It also nurtures problem-solving by encouraging learners to address real-world challenges through creative and adaptive strategies. However, implementing heutagogy faces challenges, including the need for intrinsic motivation, learner preparedness, and educator facilitation. Despite these challenges, heutagogy aligns with the evolving educational needs of the 21st century, providing a learner-centered approach that cultivates essential skills for navigating complex, dynamic environments. This study highlights both the potential and obstacles of heutagogy in modern education, offering recommendations for enhancing learner engagement and motivation.Published
