INDIAN KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM (IKS) IN EDUCATION THROUGH NEP 2020: ADDRESSING CONTEMPORARY ISSUES OF INDIA

Abstract

Indian knowledge has a very distinctive and rich in tradition. Life and Science, Ordinary and Transcendent, Karma and Dharmaand Sacrifice and Enjoyment are all in notable balance. Since the Rigvedic era, the Indian educational system has placed a high priority on moral, material, spiritualand intellectual aspects. The Indian Knowledge System emphasizes the value of hard effort in addition to literary knowledge. India has consistently taught the globe about spiritual brotherhood, yoga and Ayurveda throughout history, all of which are still practiced today. IKS is currently undergoing a revival as it engages with contemporary scientific and technological advancements. But maintaining, advancing and incorporating this enormous body of knowledge into worldwide academic and practical conversation are extremely difficult tasks. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has reinvigorated the importance of IKS for the contemporary era by highlighting its integration into education. This paper explores the philosophical underpinnings of the Indian Knowledge System, the use of traditional knowledge in contemporary culture, the difficulties of preservation and the incorporation of IKS into global knowledge systems in the context of current situations.
