THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM DURING THE VEDIC ERA

Abstract

Since the teacher-student relationship was so friendly, it can be compared to the father-son relationship of the Vedic era. India's educational history can be broken down into multiple epics, each with its own unique educational pattern. The ancient, medieval, and contemporary Indian eras including the post-independence period may be regarded as falling within the chronological bounds of these periods. Since the Vedas are the foundation of Indian philosophy of life, education in ancient India originated from them. “Veda” signifies knowledge. The two types of knowledge that were taught during this time were worldly and non-worldly. In contrast to the other worldly education, which focused on academic endeavours for salvation, this one addressed the social aspect. The development of one's physical, moral, and intellectual faculties was the primary goal of Vedic education. In order to attain salvation, a great deal of stress was placed on focus and attention. Yoga education was also provided at no cost, and students in the Vedic educational system enjoyed excellent lives.
