Abstract

Sages of Upanishad discovered certain truths, which were recorded in the VedasThey ask you, not to believe, but rediscover these truths yourself. Belief has never been the main emphasis in Indian religion, but experience. Fire is hot--this is not a dogma to be believed. You can test it yourself That is the nature of truth. The Brahadaranyaka Upanishad expounds first time in human history, this spiritual message of experience, and not belief, in its dialogue between Yajnavalkya and his wife Maitreyi. 'The Atman, O Maitreyi, is to be realized, is to be heard about. thought about, and meditated upon, when the Atman is realized, heard about, thought about, and known, this whole manifested universe becomes known'Also Indian philosophy of the 'purusarthas' is comprehensive. It finds a valid place for 'kama all sensorycravings and satisfaction, also for 'artha. However, one cannot have sensory satisfaction and wealth, for all people, unless there is 'dharma’ to regulate it. The first three 'purusarthas' namely Kama, Artha and Dharma can give you a happy and pleasant life, however sometimes there is a feeling in the human heart of something missing in human life i.e., knowledge of the Infinite Reality of Atman or God, hidden within the heart of every human being, which is the very source of all values. When question arises in the human heart, the human being enters into the field of search for 'moksa’ and or a direct search of God.
