Abstract

Pedagogy, Andragogy, and Heutagogy offer differential and dynamic perspectives on teaching and learning. Pedagogy emphasizes teacher-centered instruction, andragogy focuses on adult-centered learning, and heutagogy promotes self-directed education. As a result, understanding the strengths and limitations of each method is critical. This will assist educators in empowering students to succeed at all stages of their academic journey. Ultimately, some factors influence one's academic choices; these include the learner's age, goals for learning, experience, and options. Understanding the principles of all three learning styles allows educators to create an inclusive, effective instructional setting that provides whatever a learner requires to be a life-long learner. This chapter explains the fundamental principles of Pedagogy, Andragogy, and Heutagogy, or self-determined learning, their intricate differences, highlights and challenges and subsequent possibilities. This chapter will seek to explore ways the heutagogy could be handy in nearing the Sustainable education scenario. This chapter will also delve into the issue of how far the NEP 2020 could become a facilitator of bringing about positive transition from Pedagogy, Andragogy based instructional structure to Heutagogy or Self-determined Learning.
