ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AS A CATALYST FOR ACHIEVING VIKASIT BHARAT 2047: OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIC PATHWAYS

Abstract

The vision of Vikasit Bharat 2047 aims to transform India into a developed, technologically advanced, inclusive, and globally competitive nation by the centenary of its independence. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology capable of accelerating this vision by improving productivity, fostering innovation, enhancing governance, and supporting sustainable economic growth. AI applications in agriculture, healthcare, education, manufacturing, banking, and public administration have the potential to improve efficiency, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen decision-making processes. The Government of India has introduced several initiatives, including the IndiaAI Mission, Digital India, Startup India, and Skill India, to promote AI adoption and build a robust digital ecosystem. However, challenges such as data privacy, cybersecurity, ethical concerns, digital inequality, and workforce reskilling continue to influence large-scale implementation. This paper is based on secondary data collected from government reports, research articles, and policy documents. It examines the role of AI in supporting the objectives of Vikasit Bharat 2047, identifies major opportunities and challenges, and suggests policy measures for responsible and inclusive AI adoption. The study concludes that AI can serve as a strategic catalyst for India's long-term economic transformation, provided it is supported by strong governance, adequate infrastructure, and continuous human capital development.
