Abstract

By making education more adaptable, accessible, and technology-driven, the quick uptake of digital education and e-learning platforms has revolutionized teaching and learning. But this change has also brought forth serious cybersecurity issues that jeopardize the availability, security, and privacy of educational data and online learning settings. Phishing, ransomware, data breaches, malware, and unauthorized access are among the cyberthreats that have become more likely due to the growing use of cloud-based Learning Management Systems (LMS), video conferencing tools, and digital apps. These dangers jeopardize private data, interfere with academic operations, and erode institutional credibility. By integrating existing literature, identifying new threats, and assessing current security measures, this paper investigates the main cybersecurity issues in digital education. Additionally, it examines how cybersecurity is affected by technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT), emphasizing mitigating techniques including encryption, multi-factor authentication, cybersecurity awareness, and regulatory compliance. In order to guarantee safe, robust, and long-lasting digital learning environments, the review highlights the necessity of integrated cybersecurity frameworks.
