DIGITAL INDIA TO DEVELOPED INDIA: CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT AS THE CORNERSTONE TO VIKSIT BHARAT 2047

Abstract

India is the largest democratic nation in the world, which means India is run by its citizens. India, thus, will achieve its all determined goals only if its citizens are empowered. Viksit Bharat 2047 is one of such crucial goals the nation wants to conquer by the centenary year of Independence. Few policies have been designed, one of which is Digital India. Digital India is an umbrella mission which supports digitalization of all kinds of services and schemes provided by the government. Even administrative services have been digitalized. Digital India provides financial inclusion, agricultural services, e-governance services, digital learning platform for all groups of learners and so on. This chapter discusses a few important platforms/initiatives undertaken by Digital India, to empower its citizens. Authentic contribution such as contribution in GDP, widespread internet connectivity along with 5G tower, expansion of digital sector has also been reviewed as well. Hence Digital India is a linchpin to become an autonomous, globally competitive country with inclusive digital services, innovation and citizen empowerment, paving its way to becoming Viksit Bharat.
