Abstract

The vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 extends beyond economic growth and technological advancement to encompass the health, well-being, dignity, and social security of every citizen. Healthcare represents a fundamental pillar of national development, as a healthy population contributes to human capital formation, productivity, social stability, and inclusive economic growth. This chapter examines the critical role of healthcare, holistic well-being, and social protection in shaping a healthy and resilient India by 2047. It explores the need to strengthen universal health coverage, primary and preventive healthcare, mental health services, maternal and child health, geriatric care, nutrition, and financial risk protection. The chapter further analyses the transformative potential of digital health, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and health innovation while emphasising privacy, ethical governance, and digital inclusion. It highlights the importance of addressing health inequalities, climate-related risks, emerging diseases, and the social determinants of health. Finally, the chapter proposes a strategic roadmap centred on accessible healthcare, portable social protection, resilient health systems, skilled health professionals, technological innovation, and inclusive governance to ensure that no citizen is left behind in India's journey towards Viksit Bharat @2047.
