TRANSFORMING EDUCATION IN INDIA: PERSISTENT CHALLENGES AND NEW REALITIES

Abstract

Education and the future are inextricably linked. Contemplating educational issues necessitates consideration of the future. Our comprehension of the future dictates, for instance, the information and abilities deemed essential for the forthcoming generation. Concerning sustainability challenges, it is significant to distinguish whether sustainability is perceived as a tangible objective attainable by technological innovation and efficiency, or as a normative trajectory that requires democratic determination. Futures in education influence current decisions and can therefore be regarded as "futures for the present." If the future mirrors the present or can be forecasted with certainty, it appears rather uncomplicated to determine the optimal preparations for the following generation. Nevertheless, if the future is regarded as unknown, which it inherently is, then the requisite knowledge and abilities are not easily ascertainable.
