The rapid development of immersive technologies is creating new possibilities for teaching and learning in higher education. Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Extended Reality (XR) are moving learning beyond conventional classrooms by providing students with interactive and experience-based learning environments. These technologies can help learners explore complex concepts, practise skills in realistic situations, and engage more actively with educational content. This chapter examines the role of VR, AR, and XR in reimagining higher education through immersive learning and learning experience design. It discusses how immersive technologies can support active learning, experiential learning, collaboration, problem-solving, and the development of practical skills. The chapter also considers their applications across different areas of higher education and highlights the importance of designing immersive experiences around clear educational objectives rather than technology alone. Alongside these opportunities, issues such as cost, accessibility, technical requirements, digital skills, and learner readiness are considered. The chapter concludes by exploring how thoughtful integration of immersive technologies can contribute to more engaging, flexible, and learner-centred higher education.Published
