Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that typically require human cognitive abilities, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and perception, through technologies including machine learning and deep learning (CBSE, 2024). Coping refers to the cognitive and behavioural efforts individuals employ to manage internal or external demands that are perceived as stressful or beyond their available resources (Compas et al., 2001). In the workplace, AI can influence employees’ coping by shaping their experiences of stress, uncertainty, changing job demands, and technological challenges. However, AI can also facilitate coping by supporting task automation, decision-making, and access to mental health resources. The present study aimed to examine the coping strategies adopted by IT employees in dealing with AI-related work demands. A correlational research design was adopted, involving 100 IT employees, consisting of 50 males and 50 females, selected through purposive sampling. The Artificial Intelligence Attitudes Inventory and Coping Strategies Inventory were used for data collection. The findings indicated a significant positive correlation between attitudes toward AI and coping strategies among IT employees (r = 0.30**, p 0.01). This finding suggests that employees who hold more positive attitudes toward AI are more likely to demonstrate effective coping strategies when dealing with AI-related workplace demands.
