SAFEGUARDING CYBERSPACE: STRATEGIES FOR CYBER SECURITY IN A TECH-DRIVEN SOCIETY

Abstract

The world is converging more and more towards a system where infrastructure, communication, and even governance relies heavily with cyberspace. But these improvements came hand in hand with new issues which are unprecedented. In this chapter, Cybersecurity Management in the Digital Age, the author discusses the challenges and affordances related to managing cyber threats and protecting cyber space from cyber criminals, cyber war and cyber terrorism. The chapter takes the reader through an introduction to the topic, defining fundamental ideas such as cyberspace, cyber-physical systems and critical information infrastructure before advancing to a detailed categorisation of threats and cyber-attacks; from malware and phishing to ransomware and crypto-jacking.
