This thematic article investigates the intersection between the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and privatization of higher education in India. Given that NEP 2020 introduces a transformative vision for the country’s education system, particularly in higher education, it becomes imperative to scrutinize its effects on the role of private educational institutions. Through a thorough examination of the provisions of NEP 2020 and existing scholarly works, this study delves into the potential repercussions of the policy on the dynamics of privatization in higher education. It examines the opportunities and obstacles that NEP 2020 brings to private institutions, its impact on equity and accessibility, and the wider effects on the higher education landscape of India. By shedding light on these aspects, this study contributes to a nuanced understanding of the evolving connection between NEP 2020 and the privatization of higher education, thus aiding in policy discussions and decision-making within this crucial sphere.Published
