SIGNIFICANCE OF INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES TO UNDERSTAND THE PSYCHOLOGICAL ATTRIBUTE IN EDUCATIONAL SETTING

Abstract

This paper is aimed to highlight the significance of individual difference in educational setting to understand the individual intelligence through the use of theories of psychology. Educational setting is one of the most important places for an individual or learner where different individuals come and learn things together from teachers according to their capabilities. Every individual has unique personality, intelligence, abilities, attitudes, different values of individual differences. The individual differences consist of many things including physical appearance, psychological differences, language skills, intelligence level, differences in learning styles, etc. In a classroom setting, individual differences psychology is played a significant role in case of learning needs of an individual. Because of effective and productive learning styles are possible for every individual only if the individual differences are considered while teaching learning process in a classroom. Since learners are vary in learning speed, interest, perceiving things, acquiring knowledge, etc, their differences should be taken into consideration by the teachers in every educational setting. This paper was attempted to give explanation of significance of psychology of Individual differences in an Educational setting, especially in classroom that how individual differences psychology plays an important role in enhancing teaching and learning of the individuals and why individual differences matter – is it because of their varied learning style, diverse cognitive abilities, distinct emotional and social needs, different motivational level, learning needs or something else.
