Abstract

Adolescence is a critical stage of human development characterized by rapid physical, emotional, and social changes, where effective communication skills significantly influence personality, relationships, and academic success. This article explores the impact of yoga on enhancing verbal and non-verbal communication abilities in adolescents, supported by scientific evidence. Yoga, as a holistic practice combining physical postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and mindfulness, fosters self-awareness, emotional regulation, confidence, and empathy—core components of effective communication. Key findings highlight how yoga improves emotional stability, enabling adolescents to articulate thoughts clearly and confidently while reducing anxiety and stress. Yoga also enhances non-verbal communication by improving posture, eye contact, and body language. Practices such as Pranayama, Asanas, Meditation, and Chanting further strengthen vocal expression and interpersonal skills. A case study of a 16-year-old boy demonstrates significant improvements in communication, emotional balance, and social interactions following a six-week yoga program. Scientific studies reinforce yoga’s benefits, showing enhanced emotional regulation, self-awareness, empathy, and social skills in adolescents. These findings advocate for integrating yoga into school curricula and daily routines to support adolescents in navigating social interactions and achieving holistic development. Yoga emerges as a transformative tool for fostering effective communication and overall well-being during adolescence.
