Abstract

Perceived Stress is one among the common factor that can affect the overall performance of the teachers. If a teacher is perceiving the situations as stressful, then he/she can’t focus on his/her personal growth and can not deliver quality lectures in the classroom. The present study was conducted on 150 college teachers working within Kolkata. Out of these 150, 75 were male and 75 were females. Expost facto research design was used and purposive sampling technique was used. Data were collected with the help of google form. Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) developed by Sheldon Cohen (1988) was used. After application of independent t-test, significant difference was found between the two genders that is male and females. Its was found that males perceived greater amount of stress than females. Also, after application of regression analysis, it was found that gender has an effect on perceived stress. This study would be helpful in promoting positive mental status and suggesting ways to cope with the anxiety.
