Abstract

In the early 1900’s, approaches such as the psychoanalytic and behaviorism were predominant having focused on the drives and external forces that drive an individual to behave in a certain manner while shaping their personality were widely accepted and followed by psychologists. Pertaining to the need of viewing an individual as a whole instead of exclusion of certain aspects and paying the need to certain vital aspects of consciousness, feelings, hope etc. emerged humanistic approaches.
