IMPORTANCE OF OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES (OER) IN THE CONTEXT OF NEP 2020: INDIAN SCENARIO

Abstract

In 21st Century, India marches rapidly toward a Digital Age. With the help of Modern ICT’s, the education system of today has been enriching by various Open Educational Resources (OERs). OER is easily accessible which aimed at offering opportunities for free and open sharing content to a wide range of users. Indian Higher Education perspectives, various challenges are to be facing for the use of OERs. But the effort has now taken the form of almost a movement in the whole world, not only in India. The paper discusses the meaning and role of UNESCO for the development of the OERs. For proper implementation of NEP 2020, the various meaningful initiatives taken by Indian Government for OERs are also be highlighted in this paper. It also outlines the challenges which are responsible the progress of OER in India along with the suggestions that address these issues and lastly the role of libraries in promoting the use of OER’s in educational institutions are also explained.
