Abstract

This chapter is based on the new paradigm of career guidance (European Union Council, 2004, 2008; OECD, 2004a; Sultana, 2004; Watts and Fretwell, 2004), which opened up new possibilities for the interface between career guidance and vocational education. It attempted to switch the delivery method from the conventional model to one that was more practical approach. This chapter reflects various definitions of vocational courses as presented through career guidance. Additionally, the contemporary model seeks to empower individuals through careerself-management skills rather than relying as much on outside specialized support. The government websites where youth can register for career guidance and search for new jobs. We aim to develop skillful youth to create a skillful India. This discussion also highlights the importance of vocational education and training for career development.
