SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE MAPPING TOOLS FOR RESEARCH DISCOVERY

Abstract

This paper provides a comparative analysis of five powerful literature mapping tools, i.e., Citation Gecko, LitMaps, Research Rabbit, Connected Papers and Inciteful. Each tool is examined in detail. Different functions and features like search capabilities, visualization techniques, download facility, citation coupling, reference analysis and data sources have been discussed in this paper very clearly. This work also throws light on the advantages and limitations of these tools and provides the practical guidance on their effective use. This paper also presents few visual representations of literature-maps generated by these tools. These graphs highlight the ability of these said platforms to extract hidden interlinks and insights within the research landscape. By utilizing these tools one can smoothly conduct the monotonous literature review process in a very pleasant way and done the work of an hour in few minutes.
