Abstract

In recent decades, India has emerged as a key player in the global economic landscape. The concept of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) envisions a future where India stands as a fully developed nation, driven by robust economic growth, technological advancements, and social well-being. This article examines the historical trajectory that led to India’s current status, its socio-economic challenges, and the policy measures in place to achieve a developed state. The article begins by tracing the nation's journey from colonial times to its present status as an emerging economy, identifying key reforms, policies, and strategies that contributed to this progress. Furthermore, the current macroeconomic landscape is critically analyzed, including economic reforms, industrial growth, and socio-political factors. The focus then shifts to the potential strategies for future growth, including technological innovation, sustainable development, and enhancing human capital. It also provides policy recommendations to address existing challenges such as inequality, unemployment, and infrastructural bottlenecks. Through comprehensive analysis, this article provides insights into how India can transform its vision of Viksit Bharat into a reality by 2047, when the nation celebrates its centenary of independence.
