Abstract

National development is an intricate endeavour that integrates economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability and calls for planned and cogent policy modifications in a number of domains. The vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) is to create a broad-based complete framework that will make India a developed country by 2047, the year of its centennial. With an emphasis on inclusivity and the strategic execution of policies, this ambitious vision calls for collaborative efforts from government, private sector innovation, and civil society participation. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the historical context that has shaped India's development journey, highlighting significant milestones and current initiatives while analysing socio-economic indicators and contemporary policy frameworks. It identifies significant challenges and obstacles that must be addressed to attain the objective of a developed India. Furthermore, by providing a thorough exploration of the current initiatives and their ramifications, this study seeks to shed light on the future, highlighting the necessity for concerted and holistic approach to policy formulation and implementation across all sectors of society to realize the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
