ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION OF TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS

Abstract

This chapter examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in educational assessment, highlighting its advantages and challenges. AI enhances assessment by providing personalized feedback, automating evaluation processes, and utilizing advanced technologies like Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. The ability to analyze large data sets allows for tailored learning experiences and immediate feedback, improving student engagement and learning outcomes. However, the implementation of AI in assessments faces significant challenges, including algorithmic bias, lack of transparency, high costs, and potential negative impacts on student motivation. Moreover, AI tools may not adequately assess higher-order cognitive skills or emotional and psychomotor competencies, underscoring the need for human oversight in educational evaluation. This chapter advocates for a balanced approach, combining AI tools with human judgment to ensure effective assessment practices that meet diverse learner needs.
