Abstract

Social governance for women has become an essential aspect of policymaking in India, particularly in states like Telangana. With a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, the Government of Telangana has initiated several programs aimed at improving the social, economic, and political status of women. One such initiative is the Viksit Bharat Yojna, which focuses on holistic development and empowerment. This article explores the objectives of the Viksit Bharat Yojna, its implementation in Telangana, and the impact of social governance on women's lives in the state. Telangana, a relatively new state formed in 2014, has made significant strides in various sectors. However, women in Telangana still face challenges related to health, education, employment, and social status. According to the 2011 Census, the female literacy rate in Telangana stood at 60%, significantly lower than the national average of 65.46%. Furthermore, issues such as child marriage, gender-based violence, and economic disparity persist, necessitating targeted interventions. (2021, Annual report, Govt of Telangana)
